I've had my loan horse for 3 weeks now and I just wanted to say that I love keeping in touch with her owner. We regularly email and I tell her all about what we've been up to and send pictures. i think it's lovely. So for all those with horses out on loan who feel they might be badgering their loaners, I wouldn't worry. I think it's a good thing.

Thats really nice to hear as my mare was out on loan about a year ago but i took her back for a couple of reasons but one of the reasons was because the owner didnt keep in touch hardly at all, even though this was put into the loan contract!

It's nice to know there are some good loaners out there too!

It is a huge amount better than not contacting them at all!
Latest arrival at Mossburn is a loan horse who's loaner neglected him and as communication was so poor, for various reasons, the owner is now devastated at the state her poor horse is in.
The first time he got fed at Mossburn he was in total shock like "woah, i get FOOD?!" bless him

So i agree, keep in contact!

When I had my horse on loan for the summer, I kept very good contact with her owner. But that was mainly because she belonged to my godmother, and I generally keep in touch with her anyway.

I've put the horse out on loan just now while I finish uni, and I keep pretty good contact with her loaner. I actually knew her anyway, so it's probably a bit different. She's very good at sending me picture messages and if she ever phone's me while she's up at the yard she always puts the phone over to the horse. Can't say that Chess's phone manner is particularly good though! It makes me laugh when she does it, but it's very sweet of her.

we have a little gelding out on loan he loans send us txt messages to let us know how he is doing and we ocassionally visit if we are in the area. i like to leave then to get on with it as much as poss so is nice to get the odd message an i dont feel like i have to pester them

Yes Its lovely to hear how your horse is going on with someone. My husbands horse was on loan and whilst we were very happy with the way he was looked after the lack of information eventually daunted us and we had him back. He has since gone to a friends for the hunting season and it has been great hearing how he is going.

such a nice thing to read so pleased to read this as im about to loan mine and want my partner to be in touch and for me to be kept posted as much as poss even though i shall be abroad. good for you and well done and i hope i find one like you. shame you moved from here to there. it couldve been my boy you had!!
