Keeping pulled tails in shape-showing? Plus what do I wear for inhand?

I've got my first in-hand show on Sunday. Haven't been to shows for 10-15 years, so am very very rusty. I've tidied up Ronnie's tail with a tail rake, so not brilliant but I'd be kicked to the moon if I tried to pull it properly. I dampen it and put a tail bandage on but how can I get it to stay in shape for a showing class? Are there any hair products?

Also, what should I wear? This is a very low-key local show so I wondered whether I could just wear my riding show clothes (beige breeches, tie, hacking jacket, long boots)? I have no idea. One of my friends sometimes does inhand showing and she always looks very smart in non-horsey clothes?

Cool, that answers my question then

I didn't want to look like an idiot in my riding clothes

Tail rake should be enough for it to look like its been pulled anyways , I suppose it depends on what tail rake you are using , Keep the tail bandage on right up until your class , Some mens extra strong hair gel will do the job .

Clothes wise, your riding gear will be fine as its just a local show, or if you can get some plain type trousers ,beige if your horses legs are black and vice versa .

The blade quality on the Oster rake isnt as good, and they only go up to 18 teeth. If you get a 'Smart Tails' fine one, they have 20 teeth and will give a much neater appearence. They also do a 'super' fine one which is is great.
