Am just wondering if anyone can recommend a feed to keep my mare in her current condition, she lost a fair amount of weight last winter and I want to avoid that.
I'm also wondering whether to start giving her some brekkie over winter, there is still some grass in my fields (she's out 24/7 at the mo) but whenever she comes in to be ridden she tucks straight in to the haynet like she hasn't been fed.
I was going to just start adding some linseed to her night time feed, but am considering trying something like slobbermash for her brekkie.

any ideas/opinions etc :)

If she is tucking into hay I would start giving her some in the field now, mine are in by day and get a good net to eat which they are almost finishing by the time they go out for the night, I prefer to fill them up on hay than extra feeds.

I'd go with breakfast and dinner and give plenty of hay. Grass seems to lose it's nutritional value (I THINK) at below 5C. Would the overweight pony be able to have a grazing muzzle on to slow down his intake of hay? A decent feed helps loads. Mine drops a lot in the winter but I found Fast Fibre and Calm and Condition worked for keeping weight on him! :)
