Which stain remover or detergent do you use to remove stubborn boot polish stains from your dressage squares?

Treated myself to a new one the other week, worn once and now it look ruined, normally I just stick them in the wash and although most of it comes out you still have a grey area around the bottom, is there anything that is good for lifting it out?

Also same with horses boots, what do you tend to wash your white boots/bandages in to remove sand/muck splashes, without leaving that yellowish tint on the rubber/plastic part of the boot.

Suggestions will very much appreciated.

I use Vanish on all plain cotton saddle cloths - that works a treat :). Same goes for bandages, but I don't use white boots, so can't advise on that one. Still trying to figure out what to use on wool, though. My mum said she had something brilliant, but has so far failed to deliver!

i also use a big scoop of Vanish oxy action (the one in the white pot!) when washing all my whites, it does a good job. for subborn stains/greyness then i would soak as per the instructions on pot before washing :)

ETA: maybe try a bit of Jif/Cif on the strike pads of the boots?

Vanish Oxi Action, but I rarely bother as if there is polish on a little bit of the saddlecloth then chances are it will be covered by my boots again next time!

Thanks guys, I was beginning to think with the lack of replies that either everyone had the same problem as me or there was something up with my washing machine. :D

Napisan and Vanish are good but every now and again I do white squares, girths and boots in Net Curtain Whitener - you just dissolve the powder in warm water and put in the items for a few mins. Do it when the come out of the wasg and they come out dazzling!

I use Astonish which is very similar to Vanish etc. If things are really marked I mix some up into a cream and scrub the offending article with a scrubbing brush, bung it in the washer doing a pre-wash and wash with a scoop of Astonish in both pre and proper wash, works very well for me. Sorry cannot help with the boots though.

Soda crystals - which is what vanish Oxy action is. They will be near the Vanish in the supermarket in a green bag but will be a LOT cheaper. (also great for cleaning bathrooms :D )
