I have had my new horse three weeks and in the last 10 days he has lost and had the same shoe put on 3 times! It is a front shoe, he had it put back on last wednesday, he then lost it on the thursday, my farrier then completely reshod him on tuesday and he has lost that one shoe again today!

His foot isn't breaking away with it, the over-reach boots are still on when its lost. I've had my farrier for over 3 years and my other horse has never lost a shoe. I have started him on farriers formular but wondering what else I can do as I know that will take some time to make a difference.

Any ideas other than don't turn my horse out would be greatfully received. He is in the least boggy field available at our yard.

This used to happen with my horse when I first bought him. It helped having double clips on the front, and also as his feet improved.

he sounds just like my horse!!! the annoying thing is i can never find the shoes in his field hes lost 3 in a week before all on the same front leg! he always seems to loose a shoe just before a show......spend more on his shoes than what i do mine!

Mine is wearing over reach boots on all four feet 24/7 to try and stop him flicking any off as his feet are only just recovering from the summer problems, plus I am keeping him
in a dryer field which is fine except that it is the non hay rota field, s when the grass runs out I will have to bring him in at night and it's the furthest filed from the yard :-(
