I’ve recently lost my pony of a life time. My looking for something a bit different as a keepsake. I’ve got mane and tail hair but would rather keep them as they are. Does any one have any suggestions for either their stable name plate, head collar, rug or shoes?

Thank you in advance x

A couple of years ago, I thought I might lose Old Dobbin, and had a photograph of him printed onto canvas. He is still with me, but it's nice to see him in his heyday. I have already decided that when the time comes, as much as possible will be donated to a horse sanctuary.
Very sorry for your loss.

I'm very sorry you lost your pony.

I made a cushion out of a previous pony's saddle cloth (he was sold rather than passed away, but I still miss him). My plan for my girls, though hopefully they'll be around for a lot longer is to embroider their names onto their fleece rugs (both won while competing on Little Madam and not exactly worn often) and turn these into cushions when the time comes.

For name plates, depending on size and material, you could possibly fix to a nice stone / signpost and put in a little memorial garden (or memorial plant pot).

What a lovely idea, thank you

I had a stock pin made with Carlo's tail hair, that way he could carry on competing with me. I also planted a rose in his favourite colour in the garden and put his remaining tail hair under the roots. I still have his shoes and was hoping one day to persuade son to make me something.

I have always said that when our gelding dies I would like one of these but with him and my late mare grooming each other (because they did it so often). They are not cheap, but I think they are absolutely beautiful.

The stock pin is a lovely idea, do you remember where you had it made ?

That’s a lovely idea too, my two were always grooming each other too
