How do they come up size wise?

Am still undecided of what dressage saddle to get, am toying with Keiffer or Saddle company.

Have found a nice Keiffer its a 17" ( I do usually have a 17.5"

) And a medium fit which is what Dexter usually has, only thing is, is the pic of it is a horse with it on and the horse must be about 17hh and is a large wide cobby/shire type horse

And I thought if it fits that how will it fit my little TB!! Am I being silly!!

Kieffers have long tree points so may fit a TB type well as they will fill the hollows of TB withers! But only way tbh is to try it, one Medium can differ largely from another

I love love love my Kieffer, and the joy of them is that you can get them templated then the tree can be heated up (by Kieffer or I think there is someone MK way) and remoulded to your horse's shape.

I have the saddler coming out to look at mine tomorrow and have my fingers crossed it only needs reflocking not the whole tree altering. You're looking at £100 - £150 ish for the tree to be altered I think.

I couldn't ride in my SC one.

He isnt actually a typical TB shape over the withers and back now, he was when I got him but ive done so much flatwork with him now that he has filled out muscle wise quite alot.

What Keiffer one do you have SC?

And are they good for the horses backs?!

OH has a Kieffer Ulla Salzgerber Wall Street (I think) the one with the bule stitching. I usually ride in a 17.5 but find the seat far to small for my fat ass in the Kieffer - maybe because the seat is deep.

Fit wise won;t matter as they can be refitted (approx £40 a time) to fit the horse wearing them.

OH loves his and has the Garmisch GP also

Kieffer size 1 is a generous 17 verging towards 17.5

My Kieffer returned from Tom today, he had taken it apart, restitched some loose, not properly done stiching around the pommel and sorted out the flair and refitted it for me.

He prefers to take the leather off to access the tree to alter the width as he says it does a better job.

I was told it was an infra red heat lamp.

From the Kieffer site

Adjustability
THE ALTERATION BENCH (ART.-NO. 861)

And this is how it works: The saddle is fi xed on the bench, warmed up by special infrared lamps and through an adjusting winch altered to the desired tree width. The leather does not have to be removed – the whole procedure is carried out from outside! Please ask your retailer for every adjustment of trees. Kieffer holds special lessons for their retailers for the use of the alteration bench to guarantee perfect service for their customers. The ergonomic shape of the Kieffer saddle stand provides best premises to try the saddles and to presentat saddles perfectly. Made from robust ply wood it is also a beautiful eyecatcher for every tack room!

Holly, Tom doesn't really sell, occasionally knows of something for sale though.

I think a Kieffer size 2 will be too big for you, as you are so slim, I know it would swamp Bee and she is approx same size as you.

Found this

Size 0 = 16 inch (36 cm)
suitable for a rider’s weight up to ca. 50 kg

Size I = 17 inch (39 cm)
suitable for a rider’s weight up to ca. 70 kg

Size II = 18 inch (42 cm)
suitable for a rider’s weight of 70 kg and more

I will now be selling a M-MW Spalding Britannica elite, black 17.5 vgc as it was a bit big for Floss (she is only 15.3 and compact).

Bee says it's the most comfy saddle she has ever ridden it, gel seat, decent but not too huge blocks and squishy knee rolls. It is quite heavy though but as you are slim that won't be a problem.

I was going to offer it as an extra with Jasper as it's really his saddle but if someone were to want it now I would be tempted.
