Course help anyone?

BE 90 - ERA has a short report (thanks for that) but says "similar to last year" but more free flowing - but I've never been :p :) so can't compare to last year.

Been practicing simulated corners at home, anything else i can work on?, is it big /technical etc etc

thanks :)

I would say their corners are good introductions for a horse to jumping one in competition-you don't see much trouble at them

thanks for the replys, should add we're fairly new to eventing - clear xc at Hutton and Thornton Watlass to compare with, and also been to stafford, and rodbaston on foot :)

i did it last year as my first ever BE,and on brand new horse , was nervous as hell (im a showjumper!) but i thought it was a lovely course, the corner was fine although they did give an alternative to it. i thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it. best of luck!!

There are a few jumps that are jumped downhill (not too steeply) so if you have a horse that runs away with you (as mine does!) whenever they can take advantage... a little twisty, but kept mine thinking which was good. Lovely course I think!

Its a lovely course - one of my faves! They change it a lot from one event to the next. Its usually a big double loop course, with up and down hills. Its great for spectators - so have someone there with a video!

My only dislike of Kelsalll is that the dressage warm up is in view of the XC, so I have consistantly bad scores there as my mare has spotted the water jump and xc!

apparantly they are changing it this time- the XC is now going to run through the old dressage field. not sure where they have put the dressage tho- presume nearer to the actual farm....

That'll be a trek if they do! Not easy for them though with little flat land, who knows what they'll do next year when they have an intermediate as well!
Back to OP - xc is nice, inviting and fairly straight forward with a couple of alternatives, personally I think its alot easier than it used to be.

Kelsall hill catches a lot of people out, it is built to height and sites its jumps very cleaverly utalising its undulating teraine, that said its a lovely galloping course and does flow, do not find it twisty at all.

Not sure whereabouts it will be, but apparently they've had the earth-movers in and have created some flat land for the new dressage area, so should be much flatter than where it used to be.
