Where can I buy a nice kennel for daytime use with a run. Must be flat pack, able to put into Landrover Discovery and able to be assembled by my o/h who is a DIY Mr. Bean!!!! Dog is a border collie - who chases my horses, hence the run.

I've kept a collie or two, over the years, and I would strongly recommend that with your kennel, you invest in a decent chain.

Collie's can and very often do, find the containment, within what's effectively a cage, to be highly claustrophobic, and will very often self harm, by eating their coats until bald, generally their tails.

Most people hate the idea of a dog being on a chain, but firstly the dog will probably have more room, and secondly, it's view of the world will be less restricted.

Alec.

Alec,

We already have a chain and stable for her and she gets walked three times a day. I just would like to give her the alternative of a run for the daytime.

I would never chain my collies always their own kennel and run, my kennels are breeze block and IAE runs but having bitches a dog could get to them on a chain.

We would not confine her at all were it not for the fact that she chases the horses. She gets moved around. When we are mucking out she gets tied up in the stable yard at other times near the house.

A friend of ours in France was obliged to re-home her collie for the same reason. I also have friends with collies who are no problem with their horses.

The run needs to be 6' high so you won't get panels into a discovery.
I have just purchased 4 mesh panels at full boarding spec with no change from £300.
A cheap way of making a decent looking run for a BC is to use Heras panels and add a gate panel from Tolvi,Dog Kennels Direct or Stock nutrition.
For a kennel a shed is cheaper than a kennel or get an igloo as a day shelter. You can get run panel with a void to allow a hatch from an outside kennel.

Tolvi kennels are nice but overkill for this situation and very expensive for a decent sized run.
