Despite having been vaccinated, Sprocket has managed to get kennel cough. Luckily it is only fairly mild and, apart from coughing a bit he seems absolutely fine (normal temperature, good appetite and full of energy). The question is: how can I entertain him while he is not allowed to go for walks and play with his doggy friends?
As he is also not allowed to go back to "school" until he is non-contagious I can work on his training in the garden etc but unfortunately this falls into the "less fun than chasing a tennis ball and playing in the river" category:rolleyes:

Any suggestions gratefully recieved!

You can get little doggy games, where they have to shift things about with their mouth in order to get a treat, I have seen them at the whole sale I go to (I dont know the name lol) but a google may help or ebay.

I still walk mine (well they dont get it anymore) but I used to go to secluded places and keep them on leads.
Honey is good for sore throats.

I will have a google, thanks!
I'll walk him when it is dark and there won't be any dogs about but he won't be able to to run around so he will probably need some other form of entertainment.
I got some honey this afternoon and fortunately he likes it so that should help.

poor spocklet, hope he recovers quickly, although hes caught KC giving them the vaccine doesnt always cover them unfortually as there about 32 different strains of kc and the vaccine only covers one
kc is a airborn illness and can be passed from dog to dog through human contact so make sure yourself dont have any contact with other dogs as you could be spreading it

if he likes the water maybe fill up a paddling pool

Thanks,
I will get some benylin today and carry on walking him when there are no other dogs around (I keep him on a lead anyway but I don't want other dogs running up to him).
He is not impressed at having to stay on the lead, but on the plus side his walking to heel is improving, I think I may be getting through a lot of liver cake until he is better!
Unfortunately his response to a paddling pool is much the same as his response to having a bath, it seems he only likes certain types of water:rolleyes:

Benylin is good for kennel cough, and just take him where there aren't many dogs and keep him on a long lead:):)

How much benylin do you give them? KC is rife round here just now and the pup has coughed a few times tonight so I'm worried she might have it :( Be good to know if she does have it, how much to give her.
