Hi I am based near Sevenoaks in Kent and am having some problems with my horse. I need to try to find an instructor who can give me some advice as well as lessons. Would be great if i could find an all-rounder who can help with me, flatwork and starting my horse to jump. But also need someone who is sympathetic to a horse that has had major back op and has a history of some behaviour problems that regularly flare up from time to time.

I have been recommended a guy called Andy Ford who is meant to be a great all rounder and sympathetic to the horse, he apparently also does clinics at Honnington??? I can't track down his telephone number, does anyone out there know of him or recommend someone similar???

Think might be a bit too far away and possibly would need someone to come to me, does she travel? - think it would take about 40mins in a car and at least an hour in the lorry so possibly a bit too far away. Thank you very much for taking the time to reply, will contact you if I can't find anyone a bit closer.

My instructor is amazing! She'll come to you (she's based in Sevenoaks) and is called Laura Powell. She's an eventer so is a good all round instructor and will push you so is a great confidence builder. She's always bringing on youngsters herself and is very very knowledgeable....she trains my YM who is alot more advanced than me but is happy to work with happy hackers too - never makes me feel stupid! PM me if you want her details x

I had a rally from Jo Bowen about a year ago, she is in sevenoaks I think. She was great, really helpful and showed a new side to my horse! A friend has regular lessons with her, might be able to get details if you are interested?

Hi Guys thanks so much for your replies, will call Honnington and try to track down their instructor first as he is theone recommended to me and will then pm you for other details. I am so tired of him, I definitely need help with the behaviour, yet another drama today when he broke the electric fence and went mad in the field and has come in lame. He is definitely bored so think a sympathetic all rounder is what I need.

I can't recommend Mark Boxall enough he is very very good non confrontational and used to working with neds after KS surgery and he's almost next door to you. He will not push your horse further than he is ready.

Apparently Andy Ford is Mark's instructor and a couple of people have said he is brilliant, if I can't find him I will phone Mark, but thought he did mainly jumping and had been told he doesn't come out to do lessons you have to go to him. My horse has started violently bucking and rearing out hacking almost overnight (not back or teeth etc!) so I need to start off in my own sandschool as he is being a little daft to say the least. I think he is having a bit of a nervous breakdown, lost his best friend a couple of months ago and has just completely lost the plot and his confidence, he never has been one for loads of self discipline and doesn't particularly like hacking out alone but he was doing brilliantly so this is such a shame. Squirtly's Mum has seen him and since his op he has been fab, a really calm happy soul but he is being incredibly uptight at the moment and looks so sad and depressed.

Thank you all for your responses am glad am getting some good people suggested to me, one of them must be able to help my poor little boy!

Have heard he is pleasing to the eye but only met him once years ago, I need to make sure that I get someone to help Ryan but also that doesn't knock my confidence as have been through a fair bit these last couple of years and am feeling pleased that am still riding horror, my last 2 hacks he removed me for the first time since I have owned him (4yrs) after about 7 major bucks in various places and the last hack once I stopped the bucking he decided to try out removing the front legs and when that didn't work broncing. I was relieved he didn't unseat me but I didn't particularly enjoy the experience!
