There have been a series of horse slashings around Kent, the most recent near Canterbury last night, so keep a look out!!

Funnily enough it has started again 2 weeks after someone local to me was released after doing the same thing some years ago, apparently he is especially drawn to mares

If anyone see's anything don't hesitate to report it!

presume our boys-in-blue are aware of this chap ?

I guess he's been released early under the new govs idea of how to empty prisons :-((

Yes, but we're trying to make them more aware, and should be in local papers too. There have been 4 in the last week near Canterbury. I think most yards are aware now, but I've only just heard, and better to hear twice than not know!

OH NO!!!!! That's all we need. What the Hell is wrong with these deranged people? I presume the horses affected have been in the field rather than this 'person' breaking into the stabling? You've got me worried now.....

I'm not sure, I'll see what I can find out. All 4 incidents have apparently been in Preston, a friend keeps her horses there so I'll see what else I can find out. It's such a horrific thing, I dread to think what I'd do if I caught him!

If anyone hears of this moving around please can you update this post, my neds are in fields 24/7 at the moment, would be distraught if this sort of thing happens anywhere near my yard (obviously so would anyone!!)

This sort of thing utterly sickens me - should have stayed locked up!!

Yes, I will keep everyone updated with anything I hear, my friend is notifying the riding club to get a mass email send out too

Actually, I've just thought, my best friend works for BBC radio Kent, I'll see if she can get it more publicised to raise awareness

Preston is about 2 miles from us. I am gonna text the yard just to warn them....
Honest to God, what kind of people inhabit this World??

ah but that would probably contravene their human rights.....

but at least strung up and left to rot they wouldn't be clogging up the prison spaces ;-))

I'm not that far from Preston, with the open land around there hence my worry!

Harri & Flash, thanks for taking the time to post this, will allow me to let everyone know there is a nutter around again!

Some people... *fumes*

Hope the person/people have a nasty incident with a combine harvester/large dog

I haven't heard anything new, but it should be a main story in the local papers and mentioned on local radio, the more people that are aware the more chance there is of catching this sick person and ending this

thanks for the warning -- i have suffered from slashing or knife wounds on both my grey ponies one deceased now as he was 34 the other one is still around at 37 vets think they picked them out as they were in the filed with others becuase under torch light they stand out more as they are and were both grey and becuase they old they was well freindly both ponies suffered knife wounds to there faces- the smaller one had his eye brows almost chopped off to the ends and were hanging which must say my vets did a marvallous job in fine stitching to get him back to looking normal the otherhad knife wound to his nose upwards -- and then another under his eye both ponies did really well and both had and have scars

its not nice when someone attacks your ponies or horse for no reason other than pure pleasure to themselves
they are and should be treated like a peadafile as a warning
becuase if they doing it to animals and they sick then what stopping them to do awful things to the innocent kids or otherwise
they should be monitored

Well I spend a huge amount of my working day in the car and listen to Radion Kent or KMFM, not heard it mentioned at all so far this week! OH also has radio on all day and not a squeak.
Needs to be publicised!

My best friend works for the radio, and I phoned her last night and she's trying to get it more publicised.

My friend who i share the yard with had her horse slashed in the attacks round here 20 yrs ago by the man who has just been released.

I remember that - I rushed out and bought some geese! Is it the same man - if so maybe we should send a pic of him to every yard locally we can think of? At least get something in Grain Harvesters...

I have no idea, the first man was Tony something I think, he was apparently released 2 weeks ago, so its a bit of a coincidence that there's been 4 in the last week, but I don't know if anyone knows who is doing it, surely if they did he would be back inside??

Often with these sort of cases they deliberately don't publish big stories in the press, because it has been shown to spark off copycats! Sick I know... So they stick with notifying horse owners via Horsewatch etc.

Yes Tinypony, that's the decision a friend of mine made when her horses were slashed last year.

That these sicko people enjoy the publicity and it gees them up to do more, or that other weirdos come out of the woodwork to do the same.

My friend had 4 horses slashed including a foal. The mother was PTS as the slasher had cut the skin all round her foreleg so that it had rolled down to her knee like a sock. The sicko then chased the horses out onto the road. The little mare was lost because her skin went gangrenous.

The pictures were horrific.

Thats the thing, you don't want them to relish the publicity and make things worse, but at the same time nobody with horses in the area that I've told had heard anything about it, and some have had horses literally down the road from the place. Lets hope this sick person gets caught before anything else happens!

I solved the problem of people coming on to my yard and fields, I brought a pony that was badly treated and would kill anyone that enters the field without me, she has to be shut away if i have visitors but id rather keep her than put her down,(which is what i was told to do)
