Hi there,
I want to attend the K&S Bloodhounds meet on Sunday, Has anyone been out with this 'Clean Boot' hunt before? If so, what are the fences like at Coombelands, how big are they? and are they optional? I will in due course speak with the secretary, but thought i'd ask the question on here, straight from the horses mouth as it were!

i've been XC schooling at Coombelands - dont know if they'll be using the same fences but there is a big mixture on the XC course from 2ft to 3ft6. I was thinking of going but it's going to be -5 on sat night and the ground will be too hard.

Indeed, I've spoken with the secretary and she said a similar thing! She thought that unless there is some miracle and the weather changes very soon it will probably be cancelled. There is only one thing worse than frozen ground and that's slippery frozen ground where it's begun to thaw!!! Poor Herbie is climbing the walls and can't wait to get out in the fields again! Oh and as well... they tend not to use the cross country fences at Coombelands as they would get too churned up (that is if it was not so frozen!) they tend to just head off on the gallops and am reliably informed that although most fences are optional there will be some hedges with optional wooden fences that you will need to jump in order to stay with the field! Am told you need to be able to jump at least 2ft9" to get round. Hope this is useful.
