Kerrits!

I don't have those ones but the ones I have I don't like and prefer my aldi jodpurs instead! The sticky part is very hot and the material is weird.

I really like the icefil kerrits and find them very comfy to wear. they're great in hot weather.
However, they are extremely unflattering, as the material is quite thin, so every lump and bump shows.
Kx

I looked at these recently in a tack shop I stumbled across, can completely understand how they can be unflattering, they are extremely thin and I wonder how hard wearing they actually are. Another vote for aldi jods, I've got expensive ones also and always end up wearing my Aldi's ones as so comfy.

There's absolutely loads of these types of riding leggings about at the moment, I've just ordered a pair of 'technical leggings' from a brand called Aztec Diamond Equestrian, and they are on their way so I'll come back when they arrive and let you know if they're any good.
The brand you mention do look nice, but I can't be doing with unflattering fits.
I have a pair of Aldi jods and they're OK, I'm not in love with them. They have seem to have lost some elasticity so are baggy in unflattering places and I can't imagine I'll wear them much longer.

Hi, I'm a very new convert to Kerrits and I LOVE them - so comfy and I'd live in them if I could!! I wore mine for the first time yesterday and a horse slobbered green goo all down the front of them so I popped them in the wash when I got back. I did them on cold as instructed but I did put some fabric conditioner in and I was wondering if that is OK to do as don't want to affect the grippy seat bit .... NEVER done such a good sitting trot in my life ;o)

Thanks.

I had some full seat ones similar to the flex tight full seat. The material is thin, they are unflattering but I ended up wearing them to death but never wore them in hot weather after the first time. There is no lining to the grip seat and it is very unpleasant to wear in hot weather. they are so stretchy you can get fleece bots underneath in winter if you don't want to shell out for a winter pair.
Not had the ice fil but that design would get rid of the hot weather problem as they are sort of gel dot seat not a full panel of the grippy stuff. Didn't buy again because I found the waist height really annoying and the grip seat is too grippy - if you get bucked up their neck you cannot get back in the saddle by sliding.

I have a pair of these from Decathlon and can really recommend them. The mesh really works and you can feel the cooler air through the mesh.

I thought about getting them but liked the idea of tights - they're definitely on my radar though!

I'm hoping not to get bucked up Huck's neck! I'm part loaning him and I don't think he's ever bucked so hopefully I won't have your problem of being bucked up the neck and stuck, unable to slide back into the saddle! I have the Flex II ones.

Just wondered if you use fabric conditioner when you wash your Kerrits - that question was in my post but I think I waffled on too much!

Thanks.

Never use fabric conditioner (or biological powder) on anything I value. I read somewhere, years ago, that it knackers the fibres in all fabrics and as my valued stiff is usually "technical" I want to preserve it.

I've just bought some Dublin cool-it gel riding tights, which are similar to the icefil ones, but nearly half the price. I've not ridden in them yet though.

I've also got a couple of pairs of the original Decathlon mesh jodhs, which have been pretty good apart from some very oddly placed seams in the crotch (though they've not chafed). Hopefully the newer version doesn't have those!

I've heard this too......

Re. Kerrits - I've got a pair of their bog-standard jods (no seat or anything), it was the summer-weight ones I bought. They are lovely for summer riding, you can sweat like a pig and the fabric whicks the moisture away from you; ditto if you get rained on.

I haven't ever bought the ones OP is talking about, with the "bum" in them, I tend not to feel comfy in these sorts of jods anyway TBH.

They are however pretty expensive for what they are IMO. And they do stretch over time as well.

I have lost weight, and the ones I bought a couple of years ago will soon be appearing on e-bay.........

Oh, and a hint, do not repeat do NOT buy them direct from America, you will be badly stung for import taxes, better to buy them from the very few retailers that sell them over here.

Agree with others that there is riding-wear with more teccy fabrics appearing on the market now, and so worth looking around.

Ah that's what I wondered - what do you use? I do have some fancy liquid stuff for delicates so guess that would be the thing to use. Thanks for letting me know and I'm very glad I checked!

I have the Flex II fullseat riding tights and also the normal ones for summer with just kneepads.

I didn't get mine from America; I used Amazon for the Flex and Comfy Horse for the normal ones.

I also liked the look of the Noble Outfitters and there's some good endurance tights out there too - definitely a lot of choice which is very good. My only other breeches are denim ones with a fake suede seat and I sweat like a pig in them - sorry but it's true!!

I just use a non bio washing liquid or capsule - whatever is on offer at the supermarket. The non bio ones don't contain enzymes - I think that is what damages the fabric. The persil ones are usually on offer somewhere.

With regard to the suede seats, yes they can be grim, especially when you have ridden in the new grip ones which are about. I have some of the Dublin tights and they are really comfy (and sticky)- much better than most Dublin stuff. But I am an old bird and they are a little "shiny" which is not good when you are an old bird like me but I would have a look at the Dublin ones before you spend a mint on something else. I found them true to size.

Thanks for your help. I've got to go shopping tomorrow so will get myself sorted with something on offer! I'm an old bird too you know and even I know having a shiny suede bum is NOT good!! I'm thinking about getting a pair of the Dublin tights in cream ready for when my friend browbeats me into signing up to do dressage on her boy who is very good at it (but I'm not). Think I may have a voucher too actually ..... hmmmm ;o)

I'very not tried Kerrits but now only ride in riding tights/leggings & have two pairs of Noble Outfitters balance riding tights, two pairs of Decathalon mesh ones (I fit into their children range, so a complete bargain!) & I've just ordered a pair of Tottie endurance riding tights.

My Noble Outfitters are very comfortable & slightly thicker than the Decathalon pair which are thinner and shinier so less flattering (but were also intended for 13 year olds and not 29 year olds so really I just try not to think about it and I can't complain :D )

Definitely a bargain if you can fit in kids range. Unfortunately at 5'9 and 12 stone I'd be classed as a rather big child so have to pay full whack but fair play to you!!

Ohhh ok they're TROUSERS. I thought this was going to be a thread about carrots! You know. In an "ERMAGHERD, KERRITS!" sort of way.

I also have the Decathlon training mesh ones. They really are like riding tights, and so comfy.

it was someone on here that mentioned them, and I'm very grateful :)
