I have a tub of kevin bacon hoof dressing but am finding it a right pain to apply.

I use a hoof brush but it takes some considerable effort to soften the stuff and collect enough to apply. Then sometimes i cant seem to get it to adhere onto the hoof.

Also how often can/should i apply it?

No instructions on the can so wondered if hho could help

there isnt really anywhere warm at the yard, not sure YM would appreciate me leaving it in her office, lol!

Might have to invest in the liquid version during the winter.

the paste type one does get a bit hard in the colder weather! Id either find somewhere warmer to keep it or save it for the warmer weather and use the oil version instead.

I warm it up once in a tub of warm water, and stir some hoof oil in. Obviously I have to remove some first. When it sets hard again it is a lovely gel consistency. I don't use the oil in the stable as it is too likely to spill.

Keep a pair of rubber gloves by the pot if you don't want to use your bare hands. With the liquid hoof products, I decant a small amount into a plastic take away container and apply with a brush. It's less likely to get knocked over and also means the dirty brush isn't being dipped into the can.
