Don't know what car to purchase and considering this although thinking it may be a bit small - max towing capacity is only 2800kgs and thinking I should go with something a bit tougher?

Any suggestions / thoughts?

Thanks,

Louise

We thought of getting one but after some research on the Internet , they appeared to not be the most reliable and had lots of issues. Went for a L200 in end after many hours searching the net :-)

KIA SORENTO
Kerb 2059
GVW 2600
Towing 2800
OK for B+E licence towing

Why would you need more than 2800 kgs towing capacity?

I have a 4 year old Sorrento and that tows a bit more than the new ones. Affectionately known as 'The Beast' tows like a dream and most of the time don't even realise anything is hitched up. We have to negotiate a very steep hilly lane to and from our yard and never had any problems. :)

My OH keeps looking at these for when we finally replace our trooper but they look too much like a car in terms of wheels and wheel arches. they also dont have low ration i dont think. I am not sure, when ever i think of Kia i just think of how bad they weree reported to be when they first came out. I thought there were issues with differentials ales or driveshafts failing.

edited to say we have L200 at work and the trailers we tow for work on them make the L200 bounce about, we also have a SWB shogun about 6 yrs old diesle and it has had new transmission and the 4wd went plus other issues so dont feel like one of these either. jeeps do about 18mpg i think so they are out and having had a discovery and a defender as a kid i dont want one of those so we are stuck too.

I have an older one (05 plate) and tows like a dream.

I have not heard any bad reviews and bought mine specifically as it had won so many 'caravanning' awards for it s towing ablilty.

I have done 97k since new and the only fault I have had with mine was a turbo valve going - everything else has just been routine, new tyres etc.

Mine has high & low ration, as said above mine has been really reliable. And they did win caravan tow car of the year for 3 years as I recall. I suppose as with every car some will be trouble free and others will be problematic.

I have an 07 Sorento and it tows like a dream.Back in the summer when we were at shows,it easily hauled a trailer,2 ponies,4 people and all the associated stuff out of the muddy fields when others were waiting to be pulled out by tractors.I love it and have had no problems so far touch wood].

I have an 04 plate and it is a really terrific towing motor. I tow an equi trek with 2 up and it doesn't know it's got it all.

me too, I have an 04 plate, mines called Bryan ;-) love him! has 4 wheel low and high box and 2 wheel hi box, can tow 2800kg more than enough for my 510 ifor. Loads o room in boot.
Downside not as good on fuel as my jeep grand cherokee! he's a thirsty git!

We have a 54 plate and I love it. Most I've towed is my hw 17hh ID and it didn't struggle at all. Some other cars might have more towing capacity but I never tow two horses so it wasn't an issue for me. Its cheaper to insure and tax than the bigger 4x4s
