i have no experiance with them buti have heard well.. not very good things about their 4x4 capability, thinking of getting one? oh how did you get on with that horse, did you get her?
Hmmm...I'd be interested to know as I'm tempted to have a look at them when the Disco is due to be replaced in a year or two. I've seen a few around with trailers on the back and they seem to also have a high spec level for the money too. They have Mercedes engines so can't be all that bad.
Well I have spoken to 2 people that have them, both tow, both cannot knock them
I can get a 2 year old with less than 230k on the clock for around 15k (there are better deals there too!) - just thought I would widen the net and see if anyone has any other points to put across!
Also I note the Caravan Club voted it the best towing vehicle of 2006
My friend has one and before i had my jeep OH borrowed it to tow his rally car have to say i was really impressed with it as was he, it towed really well was very smooth, not sure what engine hers is but it was a diesel manual. I always think my grand cherokee feels very much like a car to drive and to me the kia was very similar in that it didnt feel huge. If i had 15k to spend would definately look at one, my 1st ever car was a kia pride k reg had done 300000 miles ( yes i do mean 300 thousand it was an ex driving school car!) and it was the most reliable car i have ever owned.
Actually why don't you come over so I can ply you with tempting horsey goods???!!!
(see sig - the poor people that hired our arena at the weekend..... !)
Tows Ifor 510 with two fatties in it with no problems
The only thing I would say is that the fuel consumption isn't as great as a little convertible, but that might be due to my heavy right foot and unrealistic expectations!
Yes have lovely spurs and plain straps (boo hiss.. you know you want the pessoa ones!!!)
I have a VERY heavy right foot and ridiculous expectations as this will be my first diesel, so thats OK!
Am awaiting quote - cannot quite make myself love the Pessoa straps tho LOL But WILL need ridiculous amounts of things I didnt know I needed very shortly
Hm for the second time this week I am going to come out of the "I know a bit about caravans closet"
So not quite something to do with horses but it might answer your question
Right OH parents had one to trail and said it towed their 26ft carvan like a dream. However they ended up with a Hyundai Terracan because they like the 5 year warranty that gave.
Parents tow huge caravan with it and love it - just heavy on fuel - they have the diesel auto one too, same as CWS... Oooh and it has heated seats!!! Fab on a bad back, heats it all up nice for you, perfect after a freezing day out with the neds!
I did quite like the Ssang Yong Rexton's but I seem to have gone off them now too. I reckon we'll end up with another Terrano or a Land Rover when we get round to replacing ours. Hubby is one of those who buys a car from new and doesn't buy another one until the old one has died from natural causes linked to old age!
I would always go for either a Land Rover (because I love the styling, ride and interior) or something Japanese for reliability. OH bought an 03 Discovery in 2005 which was virtually as new, and intends to keep that until it rots. Troggy's M reg one has just flown through its MOT - they are great as there are so many around and parts are cheap.
OH cleaned his alloy wheels before we went to Devon for the weekend! They were nice and grimy (as was the rest of the car) then he went and spoilt it all by washing it. The only thing you should ever accessorise a car with is mud, apparently...
The Hyundais are nice mind you... I test drove the slightly smaller Santa Fe, though you'd need the Terracan for towing. Lovely to drive and that 5 year warranty on new ones is a big plus...
Have to say am loving the big nissan truck though. Still seats five, can collect bales and jumps in it, much better on diesel than parents Sorento, and tows like a dream. Or you just use back seat as a saddlery...
