Hey two weeks ago Kia had an accident in the field and went half over half through a fence and tore his adductor (sp?) muscle and damaged his hamstrings according to the vets who attended him.
Now he was lame as a horse with thee legs (he wouldnt put the leg down) and was very stiff for nearly a week after it despite being on two danilon twice per day.
Anyway backround done
Now I have a question for you all!!! Now I am not asking this because I am impatient to ride I am just wanting to know peoples opinions on this.
Now Kia has been on box rest for two weeks now. At the weekend I put him out in the sheep pens as they are not big enough for him to get any speed up.
He went up on the hind legs as we got about 5 strides from the stable complex and waved the fronts at me and everyone who was about
He got a growl and some sweary words and a tap on the belly with my toe as it was reaching black beauty proportions and i was cursing for his hamstrings. He then proceeded to buck and squeal at the end of the leadrope (not tugging on me BTW) until we got to the gate of the pens then he looked un happy as I think he realised a blast across the field was not forth coming lol.
Well he get about 3 hours out there then the same the next day and he was calmer but now is looking crabby and unhappy again at being stabled again.
Now for a horse who was soo sore he couldnt walk would you expect these shenanigans when I have reduced his bute to two a day and its getting reduced to one a day as of tomorrow???
I am just thinking that the vet may have overestimated the injury as its soft tissue, now I trust my vets explicitly but he isnt following the pattern that the vet said the injury would follow he seems to have skipped a few chapters and i am thinking of turning him out in a small paddock maybe 20x30???
What do you think???
