Josie is even more lame again. Got her out of her box this morning, and she just isn't right, bordering between stiff and lame if that makes sense?

It's 4 weeks since the surgery, she was really improving, but this morning, I'm back to square one.

We were walking out the other day, and I think something must have stung her on the bum as she shot forward wondering if that could have done it?

The wound broke down but looks to have settled, so I dont think it's that making her lame.

I just dont know what to do for the best. I feel so useless. I'm trying so hard with her, but nothing is working.

She has a core leision too, so it's not straight forward PSD, and I dont really know what is on par for recovery of this bit. My vet is very vague and says it's more of a race horse injury! Which is 60% recovery but thats to racing standard 100x what we do, so was feeling optimistic.

I'm beginning to think maybe I should have stuck with my instict initially and PTS? But then I wouldn't have given her a chance? But is this fair? I just dont know, and am so worried I'm doing this for me not for her?

So please, kick up the bum and/or hugs? Whichever you deem more suitable!

When mine went through the op I was convinced on mamy occassions that she was completely crippled. Think I over anlysed every little thing to death whereas vet constantly told me she was fine...and vet was right!
Could you get vet out again to look at her if you have any doubts? Are you making an insurance claim as if so this should be acceptable as part of the ongoing treatement.

Oh really? Maybe I am doing that> I said the other day, I dont see a horse anymore, I see just on leg. Does that make sense. I've got very good at leading from the side and constantly watching the leg. Didn't realise I was doing it til the other day.

Vet is down tomorrow for a scan, and he's called me twice today already, is is the WOLRDs best vets in my eyes! I was almost trying to talk him out of the scan though as I@m so worried about it being bad news

Hugs. Definately hugs.

Which vet is dealing with her? Who did the op?

As said, she will be stiff after box rest, and you will be more paranoid. I now pick up on any stiffness or lameness - I find I immediately focus on horses backends!

My mare had PSD, but it was chronic with no 'reason' for it at the age of four and a half. No operation. Our outcome wasn't good.

My vet is Mark Murrell, he along with his partner David Platt did the op.

I know exactly what you mean about focussing on back ends. I was helping to put the mares out this morning and I swear 3 of them are lame behind!

ETS I'm so sorry abuout your girl. Every time you post about her I can 'hear' the pain your voice x x

Well my riding instructor just came down to see us.

I showed her her legs.

first comment was, thats better than I thought it would be.

2nd was, I reackon thats soft tissue, just doing it's healing thing,

3rd was when I walked her up, so she's lame is she?

Oops, looks like I've got lame and the brain.

She gave me a huge hug and said we really are going in the right direction.

So Josie and I went for a lovely walk, she does love her walks.

Feel a lot better now, until the next drama that is, thanks everyone x

Thinking of you! Try not to panic yet - things go through funnys tages during the healing process.

Ronnie has to be cross-tied now. Great! Good job I'm seeing the funny side of this. Blooming PSD! I must do a proper update on him with gruesome pics

Oh God poor Ronnie poor you! I wouldn't wish PSD on my worst enemy, it really is the most awful lameness. My vet said when she was diagnosed you're not going to enjoy this! Hugs to you and Ronnie x x
