Well I know for many tomorrows strikes are going to cause total disruption to their day , however I am going to look on the bright side and set my kids to work on the yard. cheap labour and all that.. There is some serious cleaning up to do. We have just had a new stable block put up and there are piles of wood all over the place, so maybe a big bonfire could be the order of the day. Old post and rail fencing which is broken can be added to it. A tatty old polytunnel which we have previously used to store stuff in which can be emptied out and the shelving in it to be moved into our new feed room, with all the grooming kit etc put neatly on top.
Now the first excuse I will get from 9 yr old Tilly will be ''dad left my boots out in the rain so I havent got any boots to wear''........ which is true so in a sec I will go and get them in and pop them on a radiator...... Now what excuse will 7 yr old son give me for why he cant come out and help????

Why not turn it around : 'if you're good and helpful and we get everything done in time, then we will have a bonfire and we can cook sausages in it' (get some long BBQ style skewers, remember to give each child kitchen glove to hold if they don't have handles) and take some potatos in silver foil to shove in the embers. Also marshmallows are good toasted.

No child under 10 I know would refuse that!

i'm looking forward to the strike tomorrow as it means i can go up the yard at lunchtime and SEE my horses instead of waiting for them to get home before argueing with them about going up!
heinz tomato soup is the best. :D

Ours is still open as usual! Just as well tho as we have the equine dentist am and the dog to the vets pm which I am thinking is not going to be good news. Definitely easier without them being there!
