My 17 month old cross breed puppy/dog has developed a really strange habit. He's suddenly become obsessed with scratching around his 'back end' ,the base of his tail and the top of his leg really. He'll also lift one leg up as if hes scratching at his belly but not actually scratch anything if that makes sense?
He seems to do it on only one side and its becoming more and more frequent. He doesnt seem to be in pain, just as if well.. hes got an itch that he can't reach properly. If its of any relevence he had his boy bits chopped off back at the begining of the year and we've never had problems with it.
Initially we thought it could be worms, so we wormed him twice, a week apart. We've also treated him for fleas but nothing seems to help
I've checked his skin for signs of irratation indicating an allergy, but nothing.
I'm at my wits end with it, is it just a habit or is he genuinely doing it for a reason?
Trip to my vet I think.. but in the meantime.. any ideas?
