Just leave it tbh. My JRT has pulled 2 off his clean off, as well as one of his normal claws. They bleed like crazy for a few mins, but heal very quickly and dont appear to cause any problems.
thanks guys
I am not going to call a vet on a sunday evening-sorry. Its not like it is life threatening. Have had a look and I think bandaging will make it worse as it is sticking out at a right angle-poor dog, Will call vet first thing am.
cheers
If it's not bleeding, I would not worry to much, it's very common, he will prob try biting and licking it himself to get it off, it will be a little sore, but im sure u are right in not using emergency service for a jew claw injury, the vet would prob, pull it off, my whippets have both been pulled off by me when they have been hanging off.
If still hanging on tomorrow, pop him yo vets as u suggest.
if your dog is in pain it is up to you as the owner to do something about it. I suspect a vet would snip it off, probably with either pain killers or local to numb it.
your dog is in pain, it is highly unfair to leave him like it, cruel in fact,

thanks cala, sensible advice as always. Am taking him to vets in min as it is still hanging on.
TSH-would you go to a and e with an ingrowing toenail??? IMO it is the same thing, no vet is going to thank for you for going to the emergency vet on a sunday evening at 10pm. plus I am not paying the no doubt exorbitant cost of that when the dog is still belting round the garden, it obviously hurts as he won't let us touch it, but if he can still bomb round it can't hurt that much.
Well he went to the vets and the vet yanked it out. Poor dog. I asked him if in his opinion I should have taken him last night, he said he would not have done.
Thanks for everyones advice
