My brilliant equestrian physio has suggested it might be a good idea to work my horse with " kinesio tape "
I have never heard of it !!
Have looked it up on the internet and certainly it isn't going to do any harm but am very interested in other peoples experiences.
Has it worked for you and how often was it used and for what kind of problems?
Many thanks.

I am an equine therapist and have used kenesiotape on a number of my clients horses. It is fantastic!! I have used it to aid lymphatic drainage but also for muscular issues i.e. uneven muscling. It can be taped on then used during groundwork or riding. :-) I would be interested to hear how you get on with it

I found it very effective on my young horse who was weak behind and using one limb less effectively than the other.

Good old duct tape is just as good as the expensive kinesio tape by the way!

i would say it would depend upon what u are using it for as the kenesiotape has a specific elasticity and used at different tensions it will vary in effect whereas you don't get the option with duct tape as much!

Ah, many thanks. Is the tape used every day ?
My physio was in no hurry to use it but will perhaps use it at the next visit.
The horse has a right pelvic drop ( Hope this is the correct term ! ) and although completely sound and working well there are a couple of muscles over the top of his bottom he is not using and therefore she thinks the tape will stimulate the area.
He has a very big flexible pelvis ! Actually he is very flexible every where. Not like me! He has been bought on slowly while he " grows in to himself!!"
I will let you know how it goes but she won't be back for a few weeks.

The protocol used with it will really depend upon the horses specific issue and will also vary between practitioners. The tape can be used every day however if you are using it to 'activate muscles' which have become under used it is important to remember not to fatigue the muscle as the horse will tire a lot quicker with the muscle working!
