Kineton nosebands

This is guess work from common sense, it might be completely wrong but it's how I think about it, and it works for me. I advise you try google though :p

I would assume that it must fit at least 4 fingers width above the nostrils, like a drop, so that it does not restrict the horses breathing. The bit would have to be wide enough that the metal parts could sit between the horses lips and the rings without pinching (but nor the bit being -too- wide for the horses mouth entirely). As for the tightness of the nose part, this is personal preference? The tighter it is, the more pressure on the reins you can have before the bit acts on the mouth, but there will be stronger nose pressure. If the nose piece is very loose, there will be a lot of pressure on the mouth before there is a slight pressure on the nose. I usually aim to have it so that the nose part will begin to act as soon as any pressure is taken up on the reins, so it's approximately a 50/50 split.
