I'd love to take Dante to the trailblazers comp at Kingswood this month, I've been hoping to do the Trailblazers comps for years now & am determined! Somewhat lacking in transport though. Hiring a box for finals (if we got there!) would be one thing, but an expense I can't justify for 1st rounds (as would also have to ask my Mum to take time off work to collect box & drive, as I am too young to hire myself). Would anybody be able to offer a lift for Dan? I am happy to make my own way in the car, but I can't squish him in sadly! He has always travelled well on boxes & in trailers, and isn't a problem with other horses.
I'd be happy to contribute to fuel & can bring cake ;) :p

We're near Newport/Sambrook, just off the A41. Would be happy to have ponio tacked & ready to go or untacked & tack in car, field is ample size for turning around also.

Ahh, no worries! I'm sure I'll track someone down yet! You're not far at all - we're right opposite the air field (joy! - at least I know the horses aren't scared of helicopters!) :)

There are loads of horsey people out that way - try one of the Facebook Shropshire Groups i.e New Shropshire Riders, Canter Corner, also there is North Shropshire Showing who is based at Weaver Equestrian in Childs Ercall, I'm not sure if they do transport or have anyone on their yard going that way?

I'm on the edge of Telford and have only a 3.5 tonner but OH and I agreed when we scraped together all we had to get it built, that we'd not lend it out / transport for anyone else except in life/death emergency... sorry :(

Mike Khan at Telford Equestrian does transport with either a trailer or HGV - but will charge

I've posted on about 5 local fb groups now, but plan to keep posting/bumping! I have Weaver/Blazehill etc on my friend's list so should have seen (I used to be on Blazehill with Dan). I might give Mike Khan a try, though looking at the website I imagine that ends up being a nice price! I suppose having some money in the game will only make me more likely to ride well... I hope!

I would love my own 3.5 tonne, that's been mine & my Mum's dream for about 6yrs! I can't see finances going that way soon though, not at least until my boyfriend finishes at Uni & can work full time (I'm not sure how happy he'd be about me pre-spending his first years wages though!! )

I used to be at Weaver! I bet we must have crossed paths at some point in the past.

I can't help on the transport side, I'm sorry. I can only tow one with my car. Hope you get sorted and good luck at Kingswood!

Can you not hire one for the day?

I'm too young to hire one myself - and even if I could, I have never driven such a large vehicle, and a first attempt in a hired one wouldn't be fun! And it's a little unfair to ask my Mum to take a day off work, drive all the way to me (I don't live at home), drive me to a show, then drive herself home, especially as she has medical problems that mean she will likely have to have time off anyway soon :/

I've started looking at transport hire (with driver) rather than self-drive, but that just depends on whether I can justify the cost, as some can be rather expensive. It could end up being a 'one off' so I can't justify going over-board on the spending.

Quite possibly! :) I've only actually been there once, hacked over for a dressage comp.
Thank you, hopefully I'll achieve my goal before I'm ancient! At this rate I might as well write Dan off & wait until Pea is old enough, as it's been my aim for about 4yrs, and every year *something* goes wrong!
