Has anyone had their horse operated on for a kissing spine? I would be grateful for any feed back on recovery, where the surgery was done, and any other info which anyone may think will be of use to me. My horse sadly has kissing spines but I have heard lots of horror stories so don't know what to do!!

Hey, yes had it done just over year ago and have a new horse! A bit too new at times! I was reluctant to do it as its a long op etc. Mine was under back of saddle (don't have the vet notes to hand) he had 2 out. I worked away during the week during his recovery so he didn't get much of the walking in hand he was supposed to but was turned out to small patch. Lunged with copy of the pessoa bought from ebay then just got on him at about week 11 after surgery. Have been competing in dressage not long after back riding him, we never competed before so have just gone for it. I finally decided on surgery as he was young and thought now or never. Insurance were great although had to pay a bit myself as was dear.

Lots on this is veterinary - pretty much all positive, so have a look.

My mare had the op beginning of June and we are now lunging in Pessoa 6 days a week. All going well so daughter will be back on board at half term and back eventing next season with a bit of luck.

Have put pics of X-rays up in veterinary........
