My 5 year old is going in for X-rays and ultrasound on friday for suspected kissing spines :( and I have now realised how little I know of kissing spines.
Did you opt for surgery or injections? And what are the pros and cons of each? And what is your horse currently doing? Would love to hear everybodys experiences/things you have learnt along the way!

Thank you in advance

Get ready for a very long road if your horse needs the surgery, but the end result (ime) is worth it! Apparently injections are okay if you just needed to get to the end of the season but would never be a long term solution. Make sure you've got a good physio on board, and I would give Sean and cyclossage a ring too, maybe even ring him before you have the surgery.
I would also insist that the look at his hocks as well as there is some evidence to suggest a link between the two.

Good luck. :D

We had KS 4 impinging x3removed in May 14. Started of with injections and muscle relaxants but they made no difference to her back so went for they surgery. Once her back had less spasm it showed up hind limb lameness SI,PSD and Osteo hocks ( KS horses often have compensatory issues ) all medicated same time as op. Our rehab was longer due to the PSD which would normally be box rested but post op they need to be moving .so longer time spent in hand grazing, stretching and increased in hand walking, then moved onto longreining in her up hills and poles lungeing just once a week. Got back onboard 3/12/14 mostly due to waiting for saddle fitters then for it to be made, and the fact we went barefoot so have taken a little longer. Absolutely no problems with back,SI, PSD since op hocks were medicated again last fri. So probably not as far on as some but I see it as its takes as long as it takes at lot of hard work has gone into her why rush and ruin it :) no regrets her attitude post op was amazing which just showed how much pain she was in. My advise if you go ahead is take things as they come he/she will let you know when to increase /decrease workload, time , patience and a good physio and at some point Sedalin will become your best friend ;) and join FB horses with kissing spine xx
