I have four dogs and am thinking about becoming a cat/kitten foster carer. I've had cats before (had 12 at one point!) and miss them. There's a local charity looking for foster carers.

I'm not sure how my dogs would react to a cat- they happily live with rabbits and guinea pigs though.

Any advice?

Thank you!

I have dogs and foster for cats protection when they need me. You have to keep the foster cat separate from other cats and dogs initially to avoid any disease spread. I have child gates and stable doors so that cats can always escape and my dogs have been brought up with cats. I think you need to know how your dogs would react as even if kept separate accidents of doors being left open or cats/dogs barging put happen and it is not worth risking.

Some fosterers keep cats outside in a cattery style adapted shed building. Not sure if that is an option for you?

Have a chat to the charity and see what they say.

Keeping them outside isn't an option. We're in a conservation area so it's very limited to what we can build!

I'm waiting for them to get back in touch with me. :)
