My cat went in to the vets today to have some stitches in a cut tail.

Vet rang me and will have to take the bottom of his tail off because the skin was a funny colour and the cut had gone over half the way through.

Has anyone got a cat with part or all of its tail missing - how does it cope?

xx

Haven't got one but a friends cat got his tail caught up in barbed wire and it had to be removed. Don't think he even noticed! Manx cats are born with no tails and they get on OK so I'm sure he'll be fine.

my cat had the bottom of his tail removed after he chewed the heck out of an injury, he then chewed the wound even with a lamp shade thingy on, he then had to have the whole tail removed. so be carefull he does'nt chew it.

my cat was a little wobbly at first, but within a month hes just the same as he was with the tail, they addapt very quickly.

My friends cat has no tail lost it wen was really little bless him and he copes fine, hes a total grumpy sh*t but i think thats just him lol.

The black cat in my siggie has only got about 2 inches of tail. He copes asolutely fine and I don't think he notices at all. He is funny when he gets the hump because he sits there as if he flicking a long tail, but really, all that happens is his stump jerks back and forth.

We had a tabby cat which lost his tail due to car accident. They took it right off at the top, it did look rather odd but he coped fine and did not worry him at all. We were just glad to have him back in one piece.

All yours seem to be a lot worse than Rogers so hopefully he will be fine.

Rang vets - he is just coming out of anasthetic and will be able to be picked up at about 4pm. Bless him!!
