Just re-read Fly by Night and The Team for about the 1000th time...such brilliant books. Blind Beauty is probably my favourite book of all time- Peyton just 'gets' it, the whole horsey obsession and everything that comes with it. I'm not actually that keen on Flambards however that seems to be her most popular series...what are everyone's views?

I love Flambards! Read the books so many times. But agree, K M Peyton is fantastic, no sugar coated pony stories from her. She wrote some fairly hard hitting books for teenagers following on from the Fly by Night books, sure someone on here will be able to remember them. There was one about Peter and Jonathan I think training a horse for the Grand National?

Would love to know what this was called- would be on ebay searching for it!

Yes K M Peyton definitey a genuis. Fly-by-night; The team; Beethoven medal ;Penningtons 17th summer; A Patten of Roses, all about Ruth and her growing up and falling in love. Most Excellent. I love Flambards too.http://kmpeyton.co.uk/

You just inspired me to go onto Ebay and buy Fly by night, and the team. I read the first chapter of f b n years ago, and never got to read the rest and have wanted to read the rest ever since-thanks :)

Just bought Fly By Night a week ago (had it when younger) and love it - really want to get my hands on the sequels now!!

eBay has lots of copies. was reading the Team last night - umpteeth time!

Like her non horsey ones too, very good for young teens, the characters are real, not perfect but very sympathetic. Best of all - Prove yourself a Hero (which Jonathon is in), really great great book.

her website is really good too, so glad she is still with us. We love you KM!

So........... were there books in the serise after Fly By Night and The Team? Please can someone tell me the 'order' if so? Thanks!

I LOVE FLAMBARDS
Favourite TV ever! All done on location around Sawley and Sawley Hall,nr Ripon.
Was very disappointed in final book where Christina leaves Dick for Mark?! As if that would happen! According to 'horse supplier' for the series mark very like his screen role... Christina hadnt ridden before the series, and learnt sidesaddle well, but didnt ride astride. It was quite a job to find a 'pink 'pony as Sweetbriar. The bay she later rides was a HOYS small hunter.
Are these other books you mention K Peyton wrote also horsey?

Looking at Wiki:

The Ruth Hollis Series
Fly-by-Night (1968)
The Team (1975)

(The Pennington Series continues the story of Ruth Hollis).

The Pennington Series
Pennington's Seventeenth Summer (later republished as Pennington's Last Term) (1970)
The Beethoven Medal (1971) (a.k.a. If I Ever Marry)
Pennington's Heir (1973)
Marion's Angels (later republished as Falling Angels) (1979)

I read Fly-By-Night and The Team for the first time last year and enjoyed them.
Blind Beauty is also one of my favourite books to read.

Cornbrodolly: Yep, the Ruth series is about a young girl whos ponymad and she buys a pony, not having much of a clue about them.

Isn't Blind Beauty just brilliant?! I must have read it about 1000 times as I can almost repeat it word to word, but lots of people I have come across don't seem to like it much?

Does anyone know who wrote the book about a girl who goes to a boarding school where they can ride, hates it as it's too stuffy and goes to a local dealer and rides for them and then the pony she does well on gets bought or injured, and the girl rides for a film and buys the pony back at the sales and then wins at a big show?!

Thank you for her website! The Grand National book is The Last Ditch. Looking through her chronology, I remembered Who Sir, Me Sir - I'm sure this was a TV series in the 80s when they trained up a group of unlikely kids to do the pentathlon. Anyone else remember?

I loved Blind Beauty- haven't read the rest yet though- but she understood the pure essence, the raw power and strength of relationship between horse and jockey/rider... Just fabulous writing!! ;)
