Knee Operation This Morning

My horse is having a knee operation under general anaesthetic (sp?) today to remove a bone chip from a kick.

Has anyone had any experience of this type of injury and recovery etc?

No experience, but just wanted to say hope everything goes well.

My mare got kicked and broke her splint bone in half whilst 3 months pregnant! We ended up at Rossdales at Newmarket under general anaesthetic having half her splint bone removed. I must say the recovery was amazingly quick, she stayed there for 5 days and then came home. As she had been living out, I set her up a stable sized patch with electric fencing in her field and she lived in that for a month before I just turned her out - and she's a Thoroughbred. Not quite sure about knees, but if her injury and recovery rate is anything to go by, your's should be fine.
