four of us rode out from the yard today, unfortunatley to get to onto the beautiful bridleways around us we have to do a few minutes roadwork along a busy ish stretch of road, this road has a 40mph speed limit and where we have to join it visibility is good, we were wearing full hi-viz gear. as we rode along an AA van was speeding towards us, the front rider put her hand up to slow him down - he was doing far more than 40- his response?????? HE YELLED AT HER TO FECK OFF AND SPED UP. i am absolutley fecking fuming

i am getting onto customer servicesfirst thing in the morning to make an official complaint, if they don't take it seriousley i am going to the police and the local paper, if this is how their breakdown staff treat horse riders then WTF are their driving instructors like???? is it really too much to ask for a full written apology??? i am not letting this go until i get one. i have his reg number and time of incident so they must be able to work out who was driving, i am also seriously thinking about cancelling my car, home and breakdown policies that i have with them and taking my custom elsewhere.

Before you get a cancel all your policies tell them you are going to and you may get it half price instead.

I would certainly write to them TBH

Definitely give them what for - and definitely report to the police if AA's response is not satisfactory. As you have the reg no and witnesses the police may take it seriously enough to make contact and give a warning.

Definately complain. Just state the facts.

I had an incident with our local bus company. I complained and the guy got sacked! (It wasn't the first time he had been rude and abusive to fellow road users)!

Am I evil for being happy about him losing his job?

Write that complaint in full. Would report to police as well - even if they do nothing they have to note it.

Did you get the registration? Still they will know who was on the route. Think I would report it to EVERYONE!

If you have the time and reg then they'll know who it was driving,i would definatly complain BIG time! Unbelievable. I would be fuming. Let us know the outcome xx

Good for you!!

We had the same thing today - white van (surprise surprise) coming towards us flat out - gave him the slow down signal - all I got was the bog off signal - when will people realise that a hedge monster can cause a horse to shoot off across the road in front of them (except Donkey who tends to jump down into ditches!!!!!!!!!!!!)

i was knocked off my horse by a 4x4 towing a trailer when i was 15. car behind cought the horse for me woman in 4x4 got out and made sure her horses were ok then drove off without giving me any insurance details - being completely shaken didn't get the registration. Luckily the local RC had her details as she'd just been to thier dressage comp (i was hacking over for the novice class). Police said they couldn't do anything because she said my horse had run out in front of her and unfortunately i didn't get the details of the kind man following who saw it!!

They have vehicle tracking in their vehicles, so if you have the time and place, there is no way they can say they can't work out which vehicle it is. It will also track the direction of travel and the speed he was going, so you should have evidence available as well. If you get no joy, then report him to the police and they will be able to get the records from the AA control room.

Report it to the police and ask for an incident number. The fact there where four of you will add weight to your complaint.
Remind the AA about their leaflet AA Roadsense - About horses on the highway produced by the public affairs division of the AA. (PA2) It states in it "Speed Horses are frightened by moving objects passing close to them at speed. A maximun passing speed of 15 M.P.H. is safest".

how rude of him!

i was really surprised and pleased the other week at some of my local motorbike riders - id been out with a freind after the big storms and our route home was blocked by fallen trees, so we made a detour. unfortunately we came out into a field which was being used by a dozen or so off road bikers and i thought oh bugger!, but withiout execption they turned off there engines till we were out of hte way.
