Can anyone tell me please whats in the above i cant seem to find it online all i know is

"Kossolian Blood Salts contain a carefully balanced, highly palatable compound of iodised minerals with iron, spices, trace elements and vitamin B12. Recommended for all horses, especially for horses in full work, young stock, and mares during last 4 months of gestation.
Particularly valuable in Spring and Autumn when horses are changing their coats, but for best results should be used throughout the year.
The attractive flavour of spices helps to ensure that horses 'eat up'."

My mares getting a bit tired due to changing coat but wanted to see the analysis before i went ahead to buy it.

Also is it any good?

Thanks

I use it in my horses feed during the winter and they are never sick or sorry and always have gleaming coats. I would have no problem putting it in their feed all year round. I only stop using it during the summer as my horses dont need feeding. Never had any problems. I generally only use half the recommended dose as it is a bit like rocket fuel!

Of all the results I have seen from forage analysis in the UK and US, I don't think I have ever heard of a result that has ever been low in iron.
But they routinely come back with excess iron flagged up, my own forage included.

I would never supplement iron.

Dietary caused low iron (rare as it is) is caused by low copper rather than low iron.

Quite agree, it's great stuff, vastly underated IMHO although lots of trainers and breeders do use it; it's a great pick me up from anything like illness, changing coats, for mares and youngsters. I always use it for my mares in the last trimester.

Ingredients are wheatfeed, sodium chloride, trace elements. calcium carbonate, spices, magnesium oxide, glucose powder, vitamins, charcoal.

Analysis per Kg _
fat 4%
Protein 6%
Fibre 3.8%
Ash 50%
sodium 10%
calcium 3.6%
iron (ferrous sulphate) 2.5%
magnesium 1.6%
phosphorus P 0.47%
zinc (zinc sulphate) 0.4%
manganese (manganese sulphate) o.2%
copper ( cupric sulphate) 0.136%
iodine (calcium iodate) 25mg/kg
vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) 3.5mg/kg
cobalt (cobalt carbonate) 18.9mg/kg.

Hope that helps.

That has taken me back a few years! In those far off days when no one knew about analysing hay or grass, or oats, or anything else come to that, this stuff was widely regarded as brilliant. I have fed it many a time with straights and everything loved it and if they had been off colour soon perked up.

Not sure I'd use it these days, but it's worth a try.
