I'm thinking about getting some Kraigburg rubber matting, has anyone else got it and if so what do you think of it?

My stables don't have drainage but I am planning on giving the horses half beds of shavings which will hopefully soak up most of the urine, how often do you have to clean under the mats and are they really heavy to move?

I have Kraiburg "Kenmats" and they're brilliant

I needed 6 of them for Ali's 12x12 stable, they were €60 each. They're quite heavy but I'm able to move them around by myself

I have them too. They are very good quality - but Icant move them by myself - I get a helper. I only move them to clean underneath once a year so it is not too much or a bother although the job is disgusting!

When I got them (about four years ago) there were two sorts - one that went flat on the ground and the other had little 'feet'. I went for the latter and it really keeps the bed (Hemcore is brilliant) dry. PM me if you need further info.

Oh I should mention they stretch - but then I think all rubber mats do this. I am not capable of altering them with a Stanley knife as they are too thick.

I've had mine for about six years, I've had them over concrete and now on our earth floors (stops the horses feet carving up the floor). They're fab, mine haven't stretched at all.

Have just bought some through a company called Carpetpac near Coventry, they sell through ebay or you can deal direct with them, we've laid them (they need to settle on our bumpy earth floors yet!) and I think they will be fine, and they're about £23 per 6 x 4 sheet, so a huge saving.

I have three stables with Kraigburg mats in. We bought them about 10 years ago and they still look as good as new! The horses are in for about 20 hours a day!

I had the ones on feet but we had the floor re-skimmed so they drain into an underground drain. I wash them out (by lifting up a corner) about once a month and then do a full clean once a year.

I think it is well worth paying that little bit more for the better qulity. After all, they will probably last longer!

I'm sure that if you are putting a decent bed down the onces without feet would work just as well!

I've got the Kenmats, theyre about 8 years old now and still going strong, excellent quality. If you have a non draining floor you probably need the flat mats. to stop it colllecting underneath.

Don't know about washing out but the Fieldguard Green Gloop disinfectant is the best stuff IMHO.

When I was looking for mats it came down to Kraiburg or Equimats as these were the best quality. I went for equimats as they are lighter and I can move them myself. I had equivalent of the kraiburg in one stable and found i always needed someone else to help me. I considered my own age and thought well its ok now but will i be able to move them in ten years time? Probably not so i went for the lighter Equimats.

We've had Kraiburg's for about 6 years and they really are fantastic quality. Very heavy to move though is the one thing I would say.
