Hi H&H lovelies,
I posted a while ago wondering about whether Melody had KS. We went in for x-rays which confirmed impingement in 2 places under the saddle and had steroid injections to confirm this was the problem before progressing towards surgery.
We're now a fortnight on and she seems better in her back (used to be highly responsive to feeling along her spine but doesn't seem so now as far as my untrained fingers/ eyes I can tell), but now seems girthy and is still swishing her tail when tacked up.
So, I'm wondering whether she may also have ulcers? We're back at the vets in a week so I'm thinking of asking for her to be scoped.
Has anyone else been in this situation? I'm worried that if she has both, my insurance won't stretch to covering both- her x-rays where pretty clear so I'm inclined to want the surgery. Has anyone managed to treat ulcers successfully by adjusting diet or feeding supplements alone? I've heard that Gastroguard is hideously expensive.
