I know this may be a very sill question but I have started my old shire on kwik beet this week and his abcesses in his feet have returned. Is there anything about kwik beet that could cause this or do you think its a coincidence

a friend has just sent me this that she found on another site

"Sugar in the diet has been linked to abcesses in the hoof. Sugar causes a LOT of problems for horses. Yes, not all horses, but if there is a repeat-abcesser in the barn, removing the sugar from the diet might be a step in the right direction."

Kwik Beet is identical to Speedibeet - both very very low in sugar (unlike ordinary beet pellets). It will be something else hun. What was he having before? Why did you change?

Oh ok. He was on fibergy and pasture mix I have just added the kwik beet as I thought he was loosing a bit of weight. I couldn't get the fibergy last week so got some safe and sound.
