my friend has a horse and we are slightly confused by his passport. not sure if it is the right passport for the horse as he looks like a welsh x hackney trying to find it all out at the moment. on this passport it says reg b i just wondered if anyone could tell me what this means? and if anyone has heard of a breeder called JH. Oosterveld, a mare called okinaberly, and a stallion called marcel? breeder in wapsenveen.

Well mine has a KWPN passport and both his parents are American standard breds imported to holland to develop the Dutch harness horse might your horse be the same that's a 'driving ' type of breeding.

There are 3 classifications:

Foalbook (vb) generally includes foals
•by: Approved KWPN stallions, Erkend stallions or Erkend Thoroughbred stallions;
•out of: KWPN Foalbook, Studbook, Register A, Register B, Auxiliary Foalbook, Auxiliary Studbook or Erkend studbook mares. Horses registered in the Foalbook may be presented for studbook without completing any other requirements.

Register A (Reg A) generally includes foals
•by: Licensed stallions, stallions from an Erkend studbook or non-Erkend Thoroughbred stallions;
•out of: KWPN Foalbook, Studbook, Register A, Register B, Auxiliary Foalbook, Auxiliary Studbook, Thoroughbred or Erkend Studbook mares. Register A foals are eligible for keuring premium grading classes. Horses registered in the Register A may be presented for studbook as long as the horse completes any compulsory additional requirements. These may include radiographs, endoscopy and/or performance. For more detailed information on additional requirements see box at bottom of page.

Register B (Reg B) generally includes foals
•by: Foalbook or Watchlist KWPN stallions, OR stallions from a Warmblood studbook not Erkend by the KWPN;
•out of: KWPN Foalbook, Studbook, Register A, Register B, Auxiliary Foalbook, Auxiliary Studbook, Thoroughbred or Erkend Studbook mares OR mares registered with a Warmblood studbook not Erkend by the KWPN. Register B foals cannot enter keuring classes. Register B foals cannot advance to any other book unless the registration status of the lacking parent changes.
•foals from one KWPN and one Non-Warmblood or unregistered parent.

Hope that helps

Just put KWPN and the name in google for any KWPN stallion and the breeding will come up and all sorts interesting stuff if you take time to look .
The mares don't always come up . You could try the KWPN and the breeders details too.
I was able photos of my horses sire links to forums in the us where they discussed his export to holland his X-rays and all the stuff from his grading full history of the mare etc etc.

The only Marcel that came up for me on a quick google was one who was unapproved in 1977 so I doubt he is the one you are looking for. If the one Goldenstar found is not the same registration as the one your friend has in the passport it may be worth dropping an email to the kwpn and asking them about him as they are very helpful.

Just had a look on google found the one you are on about, but i think he is to old as the my friends one is meant to be foaled in 1999 that would have made the stallion nearly 30. I am certain he has hackney in him his 15 hands and he moves like a proper hackney. On his passport it says sire marcel 94.13648 and dame is okinaberly 96.01489 and i cant find anything on any of them, or her horse. contacted kwpn and havent heard back from them yet.

You horse is by an unapproved stallion from the sire Jappaloup, the famous jumper. He is actually out of quite good jumper lines and has about 15 offspring, all reg.B. The dam is by Ahoy, which is a full harness horse, but gave offspring more in the Gelder type direction and is therefore disapproved for harness horse breeding and approved for Gelder breeding. Ahoy is still alive. He gives strong movers and i can imagine that the gaits look a bit Hackney, but there is hardly any Hackney blood in him.
