Hello,

I have a kwpn gelding and want to change my details within the passport to me being his registered owner. I have emailed kwpn asking them how to do it but they haven't been as helpful as I would have liked. They hsve told me to download a form and send it over but when I click on it it says I need to be a memeber of kwpn but it also says i should be able to change the details if I am not a memeber. I don't particularly want to become a memeber as I only have one kwpn..?

He is also microchipped, which is detailed within his kwpn passport, so would the details be changed on his microchip? I cannot even find the ddetails of his microchip as I can't find the right database..?

All very confusing... anyone got any ideas on how to sort this out...?
Many thanks in advance for any info! x

I was under the impression that you had to be a member to make a transfer of ownership, which is why I became a member in the first place. You should be able to download the change of ownership form without being a member though, and then when you send it in they will get back to you and tell you what you owe before they send the papers back out. The information is only changed on the papers, and not in the passport its self, though when I made a change of ownership the first time (when I wasn't a member and had to become one), they needed photos of the horse from all sides and the outline diagram stamped and signed by my vet, despite the horse being a three year old. It's all rather complicated really...
Re the microchip: it does not store owner information, it is just a number that is the same as the number in the passport as far as I know.

thanks for the info. I found out that I can change his details without being a memeber. Kwpn messaged me and ghave me the link to the form but it was literally a webpage that you should submit if you are a memeber and I am not.. it is way harder than it needs to be but I want to have my details correct. There is a section in the passport to write the owners details but i daren't do it incase they have to do it/stamp it or something?

WEith regard to the microchip I had the vet scan him and check it matched etc and it does. She said it should be on a database like the indichip type ones which hold the owners info. It seems to defeat the object of being able to potentially trace a horses owner in the event its stolen if you can't check its microchip number for love nor money.

Can you remember what type of form you filled in?
Thank you for your help. If thats your warmblood in your pics hes fab!!

Thanks yes Amore who is in my sig is one of my KWPN mares, I also have a 2 year old KWPN mare by Hotline.

Re the microchip, I thought that the number could be matched up on the KWPN's own database and that is how they access the owner info.

I can't remember exactly about the form as I filled it in a while ago. The bit you need changed is on the papers I think and they send you an official sticker to put in the passport to show you are the new owner - I wouldn't recommend writing it in by hand.

This is the form: http://www.kwpn.org/site/stamboekform/overschrijving
at the bottom there is a print button.

What is your boy's breeding?

You can enter your mare on the NED with chip number but the ownership change has to be done by the KWPN

Thank you for your posts. I shall have a look at this.

My horse is Allwin (winnie for short) and he is one of concordes offspring so marco polo and voltair etc. He is cracking, 4.5 years old and 17hh at the moment but a really nice boy.
I ahve enjoyed going through the kwpn stallions register and tracing all the ones detailed in his passport.

The girl who runs the yard where I keep mine has a Don Shufro gelding (Bo Bo) who is also cracking. They share a mare wuite far back oin their breeding so very very distantly related.

How about yours?
