Anyone have any suggestions to a reasonably priced turnout rug, preferably without a neck but where a neck cover can be added, that will not rip when grabbed by another horse!

My older horse is turned out and gets a little bit giddy around feed/haylege time and keeps grabbing onto his companions rug!

Any that anyone knows of 1200D if possible (or stronger if they do it) which will sort this problem out?

Tempted to go LW and then can add a thicker rug underneath if required and then the LW rug can still be used when it is a bit warmer again too

Weatherbeta do one. My boy has the 1200d, they are coping with him playing and walking through hedges and other such naughty bhaviour.

My previous mare had a Masta which withstood her, and she famously tore her rug of her one day and what was left only resmbled a sash!

I have a JHL lightweight plus turnout and it is great - 80g rug with detachable neck (can't remember how strong it is but my boy hasn't ripped it yet!) And only about £60 brand new :)

I have a pair of serial rug wreckers (they literally tow each other round the field by their rugs at speed) any thing less than a 2000 denier they trash within a week if I am lucky !!!
I have just ordered a pair of medium weight 200gram 2000denier shires rugs rom my saddler - who is getting Shires to import them from the USA. shires in America do a light weight and medium weight stormcheeta in the 2000 denier but will not sell them direct to the public, however I asked my saddler the other day about it, and they got back to me the next day to say that they can get them from shires, but they have limited stock. I asked shires and they said that there was no way they would ship them to customers direct in the Uk, which is a serious lack of thought on their part IMO as we turn our horses out more over here it seems - hey ho.
I have however had to pay a premium for the privilege at £135 each ...............
We have been through Amigo rugs, weatherbeeta rugs, masta rugs and the only ones that have lasted are the shires 2000 denier so far. Their heavyweights are in their 4th winter (with several patches now though)

My horse has a light weight Amigo and a medium weight Mark Todd turnout rug - both are very robust and have never ripped.
