Labour costs for post and rail fence?

I’ve been quoted £1,600 labour to erect approx 1,200m of post and rail fencing. I am providing all the posts, rails, gates etc. Does this sound about right? Anyone?

I’d be chuffed with that quote personally, knowing what work goes into erecting 1200m of fencing. I’d very happily pay that, than have to do it myself.

But please do your homework and check some references from earlier clients. Nothing worse than paying and finding a poor job done that will need replacing sooner than need be.

I don’t think that sounds bad at all. 1.2km of fencing, if it’s by hand that’s hard work, if they have machines they all cost money to run.

IN that case I'd want a top class job done so from my earlier reply - make sure you get (and visit if possible - super references. Remember though that the materials are half of the job so make sure they are top class too; inferior materials won't last however good a job they've done.

£13.33 per metre, I would expect this to include vat. Sounds about right.
