Has anyone experienced this with Burns dog food? I'm finding I'm having to feed above the Reccomended measurements to get both my labs to maintain their weights. Both have no underlying health issues, majority of their exercise is off lead. Wondering what other feed brands would be worth a try?

I always thought with Burns, dogs failed to thrive, Ive just picked up my new foster today a very overweight Lab, he is going to be fed on Burns light and given plenty of exercise.

Arden Grange always gets good reviews and I know quite a few people who feed it to their dogs, its good quality without breaking the bank.

tried burns, my dog lost loads of weight even when i almost doubled the amount, too much rice possibly, using jwb now, no problems but have heard the quality might have changed so i'm going to monitor mine as i have a new bag and i can see that the ingredients have been tweaked a bit so i am a bit suspicious, might contact them and ask, everybody here in France buys Royal Canin and swears by it, i'm not so sure tho.

Henry went onto Pro-plan a few months ago and started gaining weight immediately - he's had to come off it onto the light version, the little porker :o

My 7 yr old lab we took him on 4 months ago, he was initially on the porky side, Burns made a huge difference to his coat condition, he now has a fabulous shine and was prone to dry itchy patches which have now cleared up. It's just a shame about not keeping the weight on them both! Will research all the suggested brands, guess its trial and error to see what works

Mine's on skinners salmon, and I can't get weight on him at all. He's eating loads, it just won't stay on. It's the only food that results in solid poo though, and he has a lovely shiny coat and is full of beans. He can't tolerate any grain, we've tried Wainwrights, Royal Canin, James Wellbeloved... I've just started giving him tinned meat as well as the skinners, that seems to be helping a bit, so I'll read this with interest to see if we might try anything else. The vet says he's OK and some GSDs are slim, but I think he's under what he should be, I can feel his spine, I'd just like maybe another kilo or two.

JWB and Burns have grain free formulas. I use JWB Lamb and Veg. for mine and I supplement it with raw chicken necks and raw fatty minced beef. The chicken necks seem to clean their teeth and the fatty beef keeps the weight on. I have used all raw but found what I do now less hassle.
