Laced or plaited reins?

Laced or plaited reins? I want to use for everyday riding and showing, which are best xx

I used to use plaited because they look so lovely, but they have absolutely no grip when they get wet so that could be a factor when making your decision.

Personal preference really.

I prefer plaited over laced as I hate it when the lacing wears and little bits come loose and needs replacing which is a faff.

Plaited for me to although I stopped using them because they used to make my hands really sore but then my old chap was super strong!

I like laced but I hate cleaning them.

I prefer plaited rope reins now (in offensive colours )

I've never had a problem with grip. I find rubber reins too large for my hands.

I always ride in gloves though - don't know if that makes a difference?

I prefer laced, but it's your choice really. I don't like the bulkiness of rubber reins, half rubber are okay though. I'd get a show pair and a daily pair, but what kind of reins is personal choice

MGM, have you tried nylon core rubber reins? Theyre super lightweight and floppy, not at all bulky, I love mine.

I love the look of both plaited and laced reins, but find them both a real pain to clean. For me, save them for best and get half rubber for everyday- good grip, not too bulky and easy to clean.

I think I will have to invest in half rubber for everyday and a nice laced pair for shows as I do love the look. Thank you for all the advice xx

The thin rubber reins which give grip but also feel get my vote
