Hi guys

I'm not sure anyone can help but I think having a good moan might help! Apologies in advance!

I'm really lacking motivation to ride at the moment & it's really not like me - I usually have to force myself to give him a day off!

I lost someone very close to me almost 5 months ago (early days, I know, I know!) & since then I just can't be bothered (it applies to pretty much everything not just riding!) - I feel really in a rut with my riding & I don't think this helps either!

We've just been hacking out, jumping the odd log & generally chilling out the last few weeks as our school is being re-surfaced so I haven't really been able to school him properly - not that I've really wanted to!

Can anyone suggest anything that might help gee me up a bit?

I do enjoy riding once I get on board but the thought of it some days really puts me off! It's not Bailey's fault either as he's an angel but I struggle to get him to work correctly & be really through & I think I just can't be bothered to argue!

When I don't ride I feel guilty that he's had to be stuck in his field just cos I can't suck it up! It's not his fault that I lost her at the end of the day & he still needs work...

Sorry for what now sounds like a totally depressing post & well done if you got this far!

Thanks xx

Thanks - I usually have regular lessons but with the school being out I haven't been able to have one for a few weeks - perhaps once the school is sorted I'll start feeling a bit more up for it!
I think maybe I need a holiday!!!!!! We're going away at the end of the month so hopefully after that I'll come back refreshed!

I was like this for several weeks after Cairo died - just couldn't summon up the energy to do anything other than feed and basic care for Chancer. I was exhausted and had just lost my heart for riding.

I have started making sure I do ride or work from the ground four days a week again, and have started up lessons again and have lined up a couple of shows.

Having lessons and booking shows has helped. That said, I have a youngster who is at a very important time of his life and really needs me to be there for him and working on his education. If it were an older horse like Cairo, I would probably just have enjoyed a few hacks when I felt like it and given myself time to let me get over my loss.

A holiday would help - go and relax and unwind and hopefully as you said, you will come back refreshed and ready to continue life.
