I'm on HRT and it's wonderful!!! However my friend tried Lady Care Magnet, I think you can get it from the larger Boots stores. She swears by it. Got to be worth a try.

Im not going through the change but my poor mum is & she takes Soy Isoflavones we buy them from Healthspan they have the added benifit of Black Cohosh in them also, they have really helped her.

I actually take them myself but for other horrible hormonal reasons & i can say they also help me. I also take Vit B as well for serious mood swings & that really helps my horrible mood swings.

love it LHS xx. Hi JRT , im a bit scared about HRT and all the bad press especially with my age , the doctor said if i cant cope then we can try HRT but am hoping something more natural maybe.Ive heard of the lady care magnet , does it go in your nickers ? lol x thanks x

I know my mum used a natural progesterone cream she bought online, and that helped loads.

In fact she put me on it too as she went through the menopause at the same time that I turned into an evil teenager

Definitely noticed the hormones calming.

No specific help, as not there yet either, but just thought I'd comment on the use of the word "natural" here: it's the same hormone, whether "naturally" derived or artificially produced, and has the same effect. Same goes for other products labelled as "natural": "natural" doesn't mean "effective"; nor (especially) does it mean "harmless". Actually, if an alternative-medicine product is effective, that's all the more reason to talk to your doctor before using it, since it may well cause trouble with other medications!

I have been in that place and around the same age.

I was initially treated for depression!!

Then finally after much messing about seeing various doctors I went onto HRT and it is only now I realise how ill I had been for so long. Apparently I am very sensitive to progesterone levels.

The final straw for OH came late one night when I completely freaked out because he messed up the tuner on my personal stereo as listening to music was the only way I could sleep.

I got hysterical and screamed the house down.

I went on to several different types before we got one that suited me so you will have to be patient.

My Mothers advice to me was :

"In my Day we just pulled ourselves together and got on with life" so my advice is dont ask your mother!!

Second advice if you dont get what you want from your doctor go back again again and again until its sorted.

My mum used to get terrible hot flushes and things. She read a book about diet/lifestyle management of the menopause and now has discovered her triggers, red meat is a big one. Soya/tofu in theory has an effect as a hormone balancer I believe so you might like to try adding some of this to your diet. She managed to avoid HRT so it worked for her!

I can remember the name of the book but a search on amazon along those lines might bring something useful up.

Ah the joys

.

I had a bilateral oopharectomy last November (both ovaries out), so headed into menopause at 1000 miles per hour lol. Can't have HRT due to having wonky blood, so.....

... have managed the mood swings by 'knowing' it's the hormones - me am all sweetness and light lol.

... manage the hot flushes by cutting down on sugary things, especially late in the evening. Drink lots of liquid. Gentle exercise such as walking (I go out for a power walk (lol) at lunchtime, come hell or high water!).

Good luck hun. I'm on the end of a pm if you need to rant or rave

RIPS - I'm 44 and having exactly the same issue! As well as all the above, I find it is essential to keep my blood sugar levels stable. I'm far more prone to flushes etc if it is low - good excuse to keep eating

I also keep remind myself that it won't last forever!!
