hi girls-had LLETZ under local anaesthetic on thurs. took the rest of the day off work, went back Friday. slight cramping since then but no bleeding.

I want to know when I can ride again. the nurse who treated me said no riding or strenuous exercise for 4 weeks but I got her to say that a quiet walk hack would be fine after 2 weeks.

the reading I've done on the internet said the no exercise thing is so the scab doesn't fall off, triggering bleeding. in my case the nurse said the area of CIN2 she had to remove was tiny.

I really want to go for a little plodding hack tomorrow but hate to go against the nurses advice, so probably won't. she wasn't a rider though so I wonder if her advice is over cautious-I mean a walk hack is no more vigorous than walking on foot, is it?

anyone had the procedure? any thoughts?

I've had it - can't remember not riding (or not doing anything else) afterwards, but seem to remember bleeding for maybe a week or so?

To be honest I don't think you'll do any harm (you're just slowing down the healing process) but equally I'd follow the medical advice - they'll know your case and circumstances better than we all can.

Hope you're feeling okay - not an enjoyable thing to go through x

I rested for about 2 weeks as I had crampy pains and then got an infection :( Not nice. You might feel ok, however your insides are still repairing so I'd stay away from exercise for a couple of weeks, riding especially as you natually tighten your pelvic floor if your horse spooks, trips, slips etc.

Rest and you'll be fine in a few weeks :) x

I had my entire cervix removed due to CIN3 last year by Lletz and I was riding, hacking out and schooling the day after. I had a lot of bleeding and cramping on the day but got home from the hospital on the back of Dans Motorbike. I figured if I didn't make it worse doing that (far more movement/bumping than on a horse) I'd be ok to ride. I was.

I have to be honest, the movement helped the cramps.

Listen to your body, not the internet!

Medical advice is there for a reason but we are all different. Then again I was never advised not to ride, I was just advised to see my GP if still bleeding after a week.

quick update for anyone who may end up searching this thread in the future!!

went for a walk hack today, about 50 mins in total. was completely fine. thought I was cramping a bit but I think it was paranoia.

the horse behaved himself beautifully and we had a lovely time. going to hold off trotting/ cantering/ schooling/ jumping for at least another week though.
