Last Saturday I was mooching around on Ashdown Forest on the grubby grey when I came across a lady who had fallen from her horse and was unable to move her left hand side.
I was just wondering if anyone on here knew her and knew how she was? Sending her some healing vibes, I hope it was nothing serious.

It did make me think - she was wearing high viz and I (and the horse!) spotted her from miles away. I rarely wear high viz if I'm not going on the road, but this has really made me think that if something like that happened you'd be much easier to spot.
Never mind that I'm half blind and thought she was a kite until I was about 10 metres away!

I ride on Ashdown on my own regularly and always wear hi viz just in case.
Also put Hi viz on the horse in case he gets loose.
Like to think that if i end up in a ditch the Hi viz will make it easier to find me.

Hope the lady who fell is ok, the ground is so hard at the mo it must have hurt.

I think I'll be doing this from now on, particularly as there are some nasty roads you have to cross and the idea of the horse getting loose near them makes my blood run cold. We were near the ice cream van layby, I think near Nutley (not really any idea!) where there are all those signs counting up the deer casualties...

Luckily she wasn't on her own when she fell, and her friends had caught her horse and had gone up to the road to meet the ambulance. I happened to find her on her own and stayed with her until her friends returned with paramedics and stretcher. I really hope she's ok.

I know where you mean.
Sound like a nasty fall, will keep my fingers crossed that she is ok.

I have only fallen off on Ashdown once (touchwood), it was years ago but was my own silly fault for galloping past a car park, the horse spooked and i ended up in a bush.:(
