Hi everyone,

looking for some advice before I ring vets in the morning.
Pony had an abscess. Had vet out who confirmed abscess. Luckily it blew out a week after the vet coming. Poulticed it till it stopped draining.
Farrier come last Friday, had a look & trimmed at the same time. Said that it had dried up nicely but a little tender in his heel& to leave it uncovered to let the air get to it.
Pony is still sore on the foot with the abscess was. No heat in the hoof or up the leg but is stood holding his leg on his toe & is walking short
I feel like I’m missing something?

The old abscess could have sealed up and is starting to brew again. Could be a second one. Was a big hole dug in the bottom? That can be sore for a while.

Thank you for your reply. A hole was dug next to his frog where it blew out. He is very sensitive so maybe I’m expecting too much too soon but will definitely keep an eye if another abscess is brewing.
Thank you
