Well, I would like to thank you all for replying to my previous post. My farrier replaced my horses shoe this evening and could not find any pain or bruising in the foot. Trotted him up and he is still unsound. Eek, what do I do now? Do I box rest, do I take him to the vets?

I would get the physio out 1st to check him over, still think if he has thrown a shoe could have tweaked something because unlevel. Where do you think the lameness is coming from, i.e., the leg or higher up?

He has prob pulled something. He does seem a bit better today, the lameness is quite slight so really hard to tell where its coming from, lameness often looks like its coming from the foot and many times that hasnt been the case. Thanks for your help, will keep you posted. Hows your horse doing now?

Am hoping this will clear up for you over next couple of days so you can stop worrying about it, hopefully will just mend itself, it's awful isn't it, the slightest thing and you just get that Oh my god reaction! Ryan doing well, am so thrilled with how he has come along over the last 6-9 months, we have overcome so many barriers for us both, both physically and especially mentally, he is starting to get some really nice muscle in the right places and is looking like a horse instead of a Thelwell pony! Have just bought a small lorry and have him booked in to do a couple of pre-lims next month. They won't be great but just the fact he is able to go out and do them is something I thought I'd never see. Mind you he managed to put a 3 inch gash on his face today so will look a bit of a mess. I honestly don't know why we put ourselves through it, they are such wonderful animals to own but in Ryan's case so high maintenence, I sure he thinks well we haven't had the vet out for a month or so, think I'd better damage something else!

Let me know how you get on, hopefully next week you won't be worrying about it and will be back to normal - fingers crossed for you.

Just been through this literally last week. Same happened but the day after the shoe was back on his he was sound again. It think it was just after walking on the stones he was a little sore.

We have a horse on the yard who was supposed to be vetted 4 weeks ago but she pulled a shoe off on the day of the vetting. She had the shoe back on but has only just come sound this week.
