3 weeks ago my dear old boy who had just come sound after 2 years off with a suspensory ligament half pulled one of his front shoes off in the field and trod on it causing a blunt injury to his toe - no puncture wounds and i could account for all the nails so it could have been a lot worse. farrier came and said no need to get the vet out, i hot poulticed twice a day for about 10 days and no discharge, then dry poulticed. them gamgeed and wrapped in cling film/gaffer tape etc what ever i could get to stay on basically because those poultice boots are an absolute nightmare lol. he looked sound sound sound, farrier came for one of the pones and thought there was still some infection, cut a drain and i carried on dry poulticing. yesterday he was limping on the foot, when i cleaned the drain it bled for the first time and the whole foot is showing bruising. once id picked his feet out he walked out sound again. well i dont know what to do for him? he is in a small pen with company - i dont like the idea of him standing in a stable in poo all day. would be so grateful for any advice xx

It is probably time to ask the vet rather than the forum, but if he were mine, I would make sure he is not in poo all day.... don't understand why he is not mucked out, but anyway you have covered the poorly foot.
If stabled, he could be on deep bedding, not concrete, and have both front legs bandaged to support them. I would not want to stable him long term if there was a better option, is there a pen with a dry surface where he could move around and see what is going on, but not be on mud?
I don't understand you say he is poulticed yet talk about picking out his feet, is this because he lost his poultice?
To treat this foot , I would be trying tubbing twice a day with Epsom salts or salt solution, then covering with a poultice of the animalintex type. wrap with half a roll of vetwrap , and cover with ductape
I use a poultice not a gamgee, which has no drawing properties.

You didn't really hot poultice for 10 days did you?

If he's now walking out sound keep the dry poultice going for another few days (or even better a nappy) - with turnout - to ensure that he remains sound, then get the shoe back on. If no improvement - vet.
