Horse is lame (in a front leg) in trot on concrete, fine otherwise on other ground - been perfect on grass, rubber and sand and if I hadn't taken him on the road i wouldn't have noticed. No bumps, no heat, no injury that i know of, checked all over for pain but can't find anything. First noticed last week but was very slight so had most of week off, has been re shod since with natural balance shoes, still showing as lame today. He kind of always was a little pidgeon toed behind but today it seemed more pronounced when he was trotted up - maybe that's just paranoia on my behalf?!

Anyone any ideas for what to check/ try before I get vet out? Any suggestions for what it could be

Having had similar experience, I'd say foot imbalances. It may just be a bruise, so I'd et the farrier out first to have a look with hoof testers. If stays lame, i'd get the vet out to look at x rays to check balance :) hopefully its something very simple which will go quickly!

After the week I have had I would go to the vets and ask for a work up. My horse who presnted like this is booked in for a MRI next week to try and get to the root of the problem.
